Facilities Maintenance Technician Role

We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician with vast knowledge of different facilities maintenance functional role. The qualified candidate will also have a proven successful track record in facilities maintenance role handling the day-to-day repairs and maintenance work in office premises and buildings. The open position is a permanent full-time position working with an opportunity for advancement with one of the leading providers of self-storage in the United States.

This position contributes to the daily facility maintenance and providing a mutually beneficial working relationships with all personnel, vendors and key management team.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for 5-10 properties to perform the following maintenance duties and area of responsibilities:

  • Document repair actions and turn logs into management on a daily basis
  • Perform repairs and maintenance work in office premises and buildings
  • Perform minor electrical such as replacing light bulbs, ballasts, fixtures, timers and switches
  • Repair swing doors, roll-up doors, latches and hasps (locking mechanism)
  • Perform minor plumbing such as toilet, faucet, garbage disposal repairs
  • Perform minor drywall and carpentry to repair damage and update facilities
  • Installation of appliances such as new water heaters, minor plumbing systems and fixtures, and kitchen components
  • Paint outdoor and indoor surfaces made of all materials such as wood, concrete, or brick
  • Experience with welding a plus, but not required
  • Assist in other facilities duties as assigned

 

Qualifications Required        

  • Possess a valid FL Driver’s License
  • Have vast knowledge of different maintenance equipment and tools
  • Previous experience in maintenance required
  • Must have tools and a pickup truck
  • Team player and can collaborate with other departments in the organization
  • Ability to deal effectively with co-workers, property managers, company personnel, and other consultants/ vendors
  • Ability to work flexible hours depending on various Facilities project deadlines

 

Education

  • High School required, some College is a plus

Physical Demands

  • Stationary Position: frequently remains mobile up to 90% of the time walking up to 3 miles per day and in stationary position (i.e. sitting) up to 1 hours per day
  • Move/Traverse: frequently bend, stand, stoop and/or walk
  • Carry Weight: frequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 5-50 pounds
  • Hearing and Speech: frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and all personnel matters; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Sight: frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far

  • Outdoor and indoor
  • Frequent outdoor exposure working in outdoor weather conditions
  • Noise level ranges from moderately low to moderately high due to handling various machinery
  • Noise level ranges from low to moderate (if in office setting)
  • Noise level ranges from moderate to high (if on construction worksite)
